Newsletter 2020- ‘Dhwani’
2020 marks a special year with the United Nations celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Resolution on Programme of Action on a Culture of Peace, but also with URI turning 20, recommitting and renewing their efforts to foster cultures of peace, justice and healing for all beings and Mother Earth. Additionally, 2020 being the Diamond Jubilee year of the UN, adds particular significance to The International Day of Peace (IDP) as it seeks to highlight the challenges posed by the pandemic, and calls for collaborative action by emboldening this year’s theme for IDP- ‘Shaping Peace Together’.
Therefore, from interventions at the global level to the grassroots, Peace Day this year seeks to serve as a universal day, and an important reminder for all humanity to recommit themselves to inclusion and non-violence, despite the odds of the day. Celebrating the International Day of Peace by delivering hope, kindness and compassion in the wake of the global crisis, we present to you this year’s Annual Newsletter – ’Dhwani’, penning our reflections on how the regional office and our CCs, collectively stood undefeated in these challenging times, along with snippets from the past year. We hope this read lightens up your day and inspires you, along with many more passionate people like you, to join the peace movement.
